EDUCATION INITIATIVE

It is no secret that our education system is in need of reform. For too long, our students have been underserved and underfunded. Our schools are overcrowded, our educators are overworked, and our students are falling behind. To fix this, we must set honest policies that align with our communities’ realities and address our students’ needs. With Joe Collins’ Education Initiative we will adequately fund our public schools and allocate local, state, and federal dollars with our students in mind. Only then can we hope to provide every child with the education they deserve.

Competitive Education – Our current education system is not preparing our students for the jobs of the future. As our world becomes increasingly competitive, it is clear that we need to improve our education system in order to keep up. An emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is essential, but we also need to foster creativity and innovation by incorporating the arts into the curriculum. Trade and certification programs should be given prominence, as they provide students with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. Finally, state-of-the-art facilities are a must in order to provide students with the best possible learning environment. By making these changes, we can ensure that our education system is competitive on a global scale. With the right education, our students will be able to compete for the jobs of the future and help our economy grow. With state-of-the-art technology centers, they will have access to the latest technology and equipment, which will give them a competitive edge. And with an emphasis on STEM and the arts, they will develop the critical thinking and creativity that employers are looking for. We owe it to our students to give them the best possible education so that they can succeed in the 21st century economy and we can accomplish this through our Education Initiative.

Academic Success – Every child deserves a quality education that sets them up for academic success, regardless of their background or zip code. To meet our students’ unique needs, we must collectively work to address class sizes and staffing, resources for special education, and curriculum and access with my Education Initiative. Class size is research-proven to be a key factor in academic success, yet too often our schools are overcrowded and understaffed. We must also provide adequate resources for special education, so that all students have the opportunity to thrive. And finally, we must ensure that our curriculum and access are accessible, so that all students have the opportunity to learn. By addressing these critical issues, we can improve learning outcomes and future achievement for all students.

Education Funding – Education is a fundamental right for all children, regardless of their zip code. Yet, our public schools are woefully underfunded, with the majority of education dollars coming from local property taxes. This means that students in wealthy neighborhoods attend well-funded schools, while students in poorer neighborhoods are left behind. It’s time for our education system to catch up with the 21st century. We must set honest policies that align and address our communities’ realities. Through my Education Initiative I will propose to fully fund our public schools so that every child has the opportunity to succeed. Let’s make education a priority again. It’s time to invest in our future.

25% Increase of Educators’ Salaries – I will be bridging the gap between the rising cost of living and our educators’ salary with a 25% Salary Increase for Educators and assistants in order to ensure that our children receive the best possible education, we must invest in our teachers through my Education Initiative. Our Educators are the bedrock of our educational system, and they deserve to be fairly compensated for their dedication and hard work. This salary increase would not only help to attract and retain the best educators, but it would also provide an avenue for Educators to keep up with the increased cost of living caused by government overspending. Educators spend their hard-earned money in local businesses, and they are also more likely to own homes and raise families in the community where they work. Investing in our Educators is an investment into our future. Let’s make sure that our children have access to the best possible education by supporting the men and women who dedicate their lives to educating them.
